Papas Rellenas

How lucky am I? My wonderful husband made one of my favorite dishes, Papas Rellenas! The first time I ever had Papa Rellenas, was at my now mother-in-law’s house and I fell in love. These crispy yet creamy fried stuffed potatoes are to die for! Although you can try to re-create this dish, there is a special touch of love and perfection that you cannot buy at the grocery store. Below is the modified recipe my husband, Matt, used and I was floored. The end product was amazing!



4 large potatoes

½ teaspoon of salt

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound of ground beef

2 teaspoons of ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

4 teaspoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon white vinegar

4 eggs

2 cups of dried bread crumbs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 quart vegetable oil for frying


While the above recipe created a delicious meal, there is nothing like a secret recipe that will now be a family tradition! The Perez Papas Rellenas cannot be found on any website. Enjoy!
